Biodiversity Conservation

WOODLANDS:
None on our property.
TVA has woodlands at the bottom of the back yard hill.  It is naturally grown and wild.

TREES ON OUR PROPERTY:
Cedar – 2 in the front yard
Dogwoods – 2 in the front yard
Maples – 1 in the front yard and 1 in the back yard
Unknown – Tree at bottom of hill in the back yard is an unknown species.

WETLANDS / WATERWAYS:
Koi Pond:  In the planning stages.
Stream nearby:  Located on TVA property at the bottom of the hill and approximately 200 feet from our property.

WILDLIFE HABITAT:
Hummingbirds – feeders, flowers and honeysuckle on property.
Mockingbirds – Yearly nest building on and/or near property.
Deer – come up from the TVA woodlands.
Black bear – seen in our yard in 2016 but not sure if it was just passing through, or if it’s a resident on TVA property.
Groundhogs – come up from the TVA woodlands.
Bees: 3 species of bees frequent our property.  We are also planning to add honey bees.
Small creature dwellings:  Logs, branches and other natural objects placed in the yard to provide a habitat for insects, frogs, toads, lizards and other small creatures.
